Implementation of study programs in Kosovo

National authorities such as the Ministry for Health of Kosovo recognized the need for further development of specialized skills and knowledge in order to answer the current needs. The immediate need for special qualifications in the field of health care requires a framework for "Education of Teachers in Health Care" (ETHC). The first idea of developing a study program within the INSTEAP project was one master program in Health Care with two students' specialisations 1. Specialisation: MA Management in Health Care Services and Health Care Institutions 2. Specialisation: MSc Education (Teacher) in Health Care. There were some reasons to reflect this first idea and to reorganize the single master program into two separated master programs in health care. In addition there are different demands on study programs for management in health care and study programs for education in health care. Possible extensions of the study program for other fields (teacher for physiotherapy, teacher for speech therapy but also other kinds of subjects like teacher for nutritionists, teacher for doctor's assistants, or even teacher of child care workers (kindergarten teachers) is included in the same general framework. This innovative framework is very flexible and can be adjusted to the needs of Kosovo. This framework will guarantee sustainability in the education of kinds of these health care workers. The master programs MSc Education in Health Care and MSc Management in Health Care Services and Health Care Institutions considers requirements of European standard in higher education programmes, developed employees with a professional knowledge in steering health care facilities and to implement research based social and economic strategies. The new master programs MSc Education in Health Care and MSc Management in Health Care Services and Health Care Institutions are in line with the labour market of Kosovo. To prepare the staff in Kosovo a training in Muenster in allocation to the new didactic concept was organized in 2014. Teaching methods, e-learning methods and new education methods for lectures were provided during the one week training. To create a sustainability and reliability the partners decided to continue the staff training during the future in correlation of the visits of scientific advisers. The study programs got an accreditation in 2014 and started in December 2014. The MSc Management in Health Care Services and Health Care Institutions is offered by PrBHE "qeap-Heimerer". The University of Pristina offer the MSc Eduaction in Health Care.
